I have a dedicated page relating to the Long Distance Walking Association, however I thought I would highlight up and coming challenge walks the East Yorkshire group will be holding in the forth coming year and maybe give a little exposure to the fantastic routes these walks offer. I have also included the 'Smugglers Trod' walk which is a Yorkshire Coast LDWA event, however is attended by many members of East Yorkshire.

All events are open to everyone and information of all these walks can be sourced from the LDWA official web site. The site has a search facility and therefore provides details of other group's challenge walks if the East Yorkshire events are not in your area.

Rudolph Romp
The Rudolph Romp is one of the first EYLDWA challenge walks I took part in and is a particular favourite of mine - The event is always held each year on the first weekend of December. Next years date has not yet been set, although this site will advertise this as and when it's confirmed.
Capability Overview
Capability Overview is a fabulous walk around the Sledmere area, the next event being held on the 19th May 2013. The route incorporates a number of paths not usually available to the public, using private land and therefore an unique opportunity to walk paths rarely open.
Golden Fleece
This is a new walk first held last year, which was a fantastic success and brilliantly supported, the next event will be held on the 2nd March 2013. The event is organised by the South Cave Scout Group in association with the EYLDWA.
The Woldsman
A 50 mile walk over the Yorkshire Wolds - an event which I've never taken part in, however would love to try at some point in the next couple of years. The next event is to take place on the 13th & 14th April 2013.
A Stern Encounter
This challenge walk will be in it's second year in 2013 and is due to be held on the 29th June 2013. This is another walk that I haven't completed yet, however will be taking part this year. A stern Encounter is a walk taking in the Howardian Hills, starting from Ampleforth.
Scarborough Rock
Scarborough Rock (a 24 0r 16 mile walk) has always been an event I've wanted to take part in, however due to various circumstances have never been able to make it to Scalby and sadly will not be able to participate this year either, although will be making a conscious effort next year to join in. This year the event is being held on the 5th January 2013.
Smugglers Trod
As mentioned in the post's introduction, the Smugglers Trod walk is a Yorkshire Coast group challenge walk, however deserves a mention due to the superb coastal scenery the walk offers and is a favourite to all walkers in East Yorkshire. The 26th Smugglers Trod is to be held on the 24th August 2013 and offers two route lengths - 26 or 17 Miles.
